Traditional LASIK procedures require a specialized instrument, a microkeratome, be used to create the corneal flap that is folded back by the doctor to perform the LASIK procedure. At Easton Eye Consultants we are also able to offer custom, “all laser” LASIK procedures that are done entirely with lasers, which lowers patient anxiety and increases their confidence.
The all laser way of performing a LASIK procedure begins when Dr. Negahban uses a special laser that produces extremely small pulses of light on the order of a quadrillionth of a second each to create a series of bubbles just under the surface of your eye. The precise dimension of this bubble layer is determined by Dr. Negahban and is custom to your individual eyes and vision and is controlled by a computer for maximum precision. On average, it takes no more than fifteen or twenty seconds for the procedure to be completed and your eye to be prepared.
When your LASIK treatment is to be performed, the tissues are separated along the layer of bubbles and folded back, which creates the corneal flap. Following the LASIK procedure, the flap that was created by our special all laser treatment locks back into place in a unique manner without sutures, and your eye quickly begins the healing process.
